Privacy Policy
This policy explains what personal information AdventureAtlas collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Last updated: 13 June 2026
1. Who we are
AdventureAtlas is operated by Play Force (“we”, “us”, “our”). For anything privacy-related, contact us at hello@adventureatlas.au.
2. What we collect
Account information. When you sign up we collect your name, email address and password (stored in hashed form — we never see your actual password). You can also set a display name and avatar.
Atlas Passport information. If you create a passport for your child, we collect the first name (or nickname) you choose, an avatar emoji, and optionally a birth year. We deliberately keep this minimal — we never ask for a child's full name, photo, exact birth date, school or address, and child passports are only visible to the account that created them.
Content you contribute. Places you add, photos you upload, ratings and check-ins. Check-ins record which place was visited and when.
Usage information. Like most websites we collect technical data such as pages visited, approximate location derived from your IP address, browser type and device information, via the analytics services described below.
3. How we use your information
- to provide the service — accounts, passports, stickers, check-ins and community listings;
- to send service emails such as account confirmation and password reset;
- to moderate community content and keep the platform safe;
- to understand how the site is used so we can improve it; and
- to comply with our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use children's information for marketing or profiling of any kind.
4. Children's privacy
AdventureAtlas is designed for parents and guardians. Children do not have their own accounts, and all information about a child is entered and controlled by their parent or guardian, who can delete a passport at any time. Please do not upload photos in which children are identifiable without the consent of their parent or guardian.
5. Who we share information with
We share information only with the service providers we use to run AdventureAtlas:
- Supabase — hosts our database, authentication and file storage, including account details, passports, places and photos;
- Vercel — hosts the website and provides privacy-friendly, cookie-free aggregate analytics;
- Google — Google Analytics (usage statistics) and Google Maps (the maps shown on place pages).
Some of these providers store data outside Australia (typically in the United States). We take reasonable steps to ensure they handle personal information consistently with Australian privacy law. We may also disclose information if required by law.
Content you publish — places, photos and ratings — is visible to other users of the site. Your email address and child passports are never shown publicly.
6. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in (essential) and to measure how the site is used via Google Analytics. Vercel Analytics is cookie-free and aggregate-only. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings — the site will still work, though you will need to log in each visit. You can also opt out of Google Analytics using Google's browser add-on.
7. Security and retention
We protect your information with industry-standard measures, including encryption in transit, hashed passwords and row-level access controls in our database. We keep your information while your account is active. When your account is deleted, your personal information and passports are removed; places and ratings you contributed may remain in anonymised form so the community map stays useful.
8. Access, correction and deletion
You can view and update your profile details on the Account page, and remove child passports from the Passport page. To request a copy of your data, correct information you can't edit yourself, or delete your account entirely, email us at hello@adventureatlas.au and we will respond within a reasonable time.
9. Complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, contact us first at hello@adventureatlas.au and we will do our best to resolve it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top shows the current version, and we will take reasonable steps to notify you of material changes.
